What Is God Waiting For?

This world is in deep pain. There is wickedness at every turn. The power players and opinion makers have turned every long-standing moral reality upside down and inside out.

Light is dark, and dark is light; right is wrong, and wrong is right!

Innocent people suffer while the wicked prosper. It’s not fair!

Didn’t Jesus promise that He would come back to us and set everything right? Where is that promised coming?

What’s He waiting for? Why doesn’t He come and judge all this sin?

Oh! Wait.

Am I really in a hurry for Him to judge ALL sin?

Even mine?

Even my children’s?

Even my close friend’s?

No. Thank God for His patience. . . His “long suffering.”

That term seems to suggest that He might be more anxious (if I may put it in human terms) than we are for Him to return and make things right.

Certainly He want His Kingdom to come, His will to be done “on earth as it is in Heaven.” He told us to pray for that.

But still He waits.

He waits because when that day finally comes, there will be no time for us to turn from our sin.

No time to decide to follow Him.

No time to repent and escape the penalty that is justly due.

He patiently waits because He doesn’t want anyone to perish. He patiently waits for us to repent.

So the better question is this:

What are YOU waiting for?
